Description

Steel rule dies are made by bending hardened steel rules into custom shapes and mounting them on a plywood or composite base. They suit fast, high-volume cutting of flexible and semi-rigid materials, and Snijer designs and builds them to your specification.

They cost less than solid dies, which suits fast prototyping and short to medium runs, and their light construction means quick changeovers with less machine downtime. One die can combine cutting, creasing, perforating and scoring, with integrated creasing rules, perforation rules, ejector rubbers and optimised layouts. Rule height, thickness, bevel angle and hardness are chosen to suit the material and cutting conditions.

Manufacturing

Dimensions, geometry and mounting are made to your drawing or sample, heat treatment and finishing are matched to the material you process, and every part is inspected before dispatch.

Frequently asked questions

Can you match a blade from a worn sample without a drawing?

Yes. Send the sample and we will measure it, confirm the geometry with you, and quote from there.

Which material and coating should I choose?

It depends on what you cut and how fast. Tell us the material, line speed and current blade life and we will recommend a grade and coating with the quote.
